Experience and Education
Jeff joined the Washington Sea Grant team in 2006 after seven years with the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, where he was the Director of Aquatic Programs. At the Society, he was active in educating and writing for broad audiences, fundraising, and ensuring consistent and accurate identification. Jeff is a two-time University of Washington graduate, with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Oceanography and a Master of Science degree from the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences. With Washington Sea Grant, Jeff has deepened his involvement in state and regional aquatic invasive species issues and has taken the role of aquatic invasive species coordination at Washington Sea Grant. With colleagues from Washington State University, Jeff has developed a beach naturalist program for Kitsap County and has personally assisted in the development of two other beach naturalist programs in the Puget Sound region. Jeff and colleagues have also been training rain garden mentors to assist homeowners with the planning and installation of rain gardens and other low impact development practices on their property.
