Experience and Education
Ginny has extensive experience working on Puget Sound conservation and restoration issues and projects. She worked for the Puget Sound Action Team for 12 years to advance nearshore habitat protection and marine protected area development. She has been marine program manager for the Northwest Straits (NWS) Commission since 2003. Ginny has a bachelor of science degree in environmental conservation from the University of New Hampshire and marine affairs master’s degree from the University of Washington.
Current Activities
- Managing NWS derelict fishing gear program, currently grant-funded at about half a million dollars for gear removal, associated research and export of the program to other coastal states.
- Managing NWS creosote debris removal program, currently grant- funded at about $111,000 for surveys and removal, in partnership with Washington Department of Natural Resources.
- Leading the review process for Northwest Straits grant program to seven marine resources committees.
- Advising San Juan County marine resources committee regarding marine managers networking project to coordinate management activities in the San Juan archipelago.
