Communications
Unbiased brokers of information, WSG communicators help agencies, organizations, businesses, schools and individuals better understand and manage marine resources and the environment.
Communications is a core component of Washington Sea Grant, supporting Administration, Marine Advisory Services, Education and research project investigators through publications, presentations, media relations, public information and communications consulting.
Communications staff also initiates and develops independent projects and products, often working in partnership with outside organizations with compatible goals. The WSG Communications Office is involved in the full range of Sea Grant activities, from producing basic informational material for marine user groups, to writing, editing and designing sophisticated publications, to developing strategic communications plans.

Highlights
- It's a Beach. WSG Communications and WSG Marine Habitat Specialist Jim Brennan have teamed with Snohomish County Beach Watchers to create an interpretive sign for a kiosk at Mukilteo Lighthouse Park. The poster educates park users about natural beach processes and what people can do to keep Puget Sound's beaches alive and well. (See the previous year’s poster, produced by WSG Communications and WSG Marine Water Quality Specialist Jeff Adams.)
- Communications Internships: WSG offers internships to aspiring or established writers to help produce brochures, booklets, newspaper and magazine pieces, and other materials for diverse audiences. More information.
