New Models for Solving Future Policy and Management Challenges in the Nearshore and Estuarine Environments
Tom Leschine and Terrie L. Klinger, School of Marine Affairs, University of Washington
E/MS-9
The Pew Ocean Commission and the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy recently recommended that new approaches to ocean governance be taken, and that these new approaches consider climate change and other future uncertainties. This project will recruit graduate students within the School of Marine Affairs to develop case-study Masters theses that apply integrative approaches to address important policy and management questions for the region. The theses will be edited, designed and published in a casebook to encourage similar approaches by policy graduates elsewhere. From this effort, a new model of analysis will emerge — one that is publishable and broadly applicable to difficult-to-resolve current issues in ocean governance.
