Bio
Brett Dumbauld received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Washington. His work in coastal estuaries began with studies on ways to mitigate the loss of Dungeness crab due to dredging by enhancing intertidal habitat for juvenile crab and he went on to study the ecology of burrowing shrimp and their effect on oyster aquaculture. He was in charge of the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildife’s Willapa Bay Field Station for about 12 years and recently began a new career with USDA’s Agricultural Research Service at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon where he continues to work on solving the problem the shellfish growers have with burrowing shrimp and investigating the role of shellfish aquaculture in the estuarine environment.
