Karen provides IT support for WSG staff, including client computers, servers and networking/collaborative services. She was contracted to help with custom development of the organization’s website starting in 2014 and has been an essential member of the communications team ever since. Karen has extensive experience as an application developer, both for third-party content management systems and for custom solutions.

Previously, she was an instructor at the University of Washington, Cornish College of Design and Art Institute of California, where she taught diverse information technology topics including information architecture, web design, user-centered design, usability and interface and interaction design. Karen also worked for Rockwell International (now Boeing), where she used computer models to analyze loads for the NASA space shuttle.

Karen holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree, both in General Engineering from Harvey Mudd College. Karen has lived near and loved the coast her entire life. She got her diving certification at 13 and has enjoyed the waters and the underwater creatures of Catalina, Carmel and Hawaii. In her spare time, she enjoys soccer. She played goalie for the very first Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s varsity soccer team for four years and remains an ardent women’s soccer fan, especially of the Seattle Reign FC.
