SUMMARY:Become a salmon docent!
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nWant to learn more about our local salmon? Become a Salmon Docent! \nSalmon hold ecological\, commercial\, and cultural significance in the Pacific Northwest. Through this 2-day training\, join regional experts to explore how our salmon survive their epic migrations and the challenges that they face in today’s changing world. \nAttendees will engage with material through field trips and hands-on activities. Local organizations will share current research findings and provide tangible volunteer opportunities on salmon-focused projects across Kitsap county. \nOur training culminates with the opportunity to become a docent at our annual Kitsap Salmon Tours event (Nov. 3rd)\, giving trainees the chance to share what they’ve learned with the public. Attendees who sign up to participate in a 2-hour shift as a streamside docent will receive a FREE 70-page waterproof Kitsap Salmon Field Guide\, available only to Kitsap Salmon Docents. \nSpace is limited\, so register today at Brown Paper Tickets: https://2018salmondocent.bpt.me \nOr contact Lisa Rillie – lrilli@co.kitsap.wa.us or 360-337-7157 x3244 \n\n\n2018  Salmon Docent Training Information:\nPart 1: Salmon species\, life cycle\, and anatomy \nThursday\, October 4\, 2018\, 9am-3pm \nLocation: Microbiology lab\, Olympic College\, 1600 Chester Ave.\, Bremerton \nField trip: Grovers Creek Hatchery tour \nPart 2: Salmon habitat and regional challenges \nThursday\, October 11\, 2018\, 9am-3pm \nLocation: Clear Creek Sa’qad Interpretive Center\, 9641 Levin Rd.\, Silverdale \nField trip: Habitat exploration on Clear Creek Trail \n\n\n  \n
