SUMMARY:NOAA Fisheries: 2020 Groundfish Seminar Series
DESCRIPTION:Wes Larson\, Alaska Fisheries Science Center \nGenomics\, Transcriptomics\, and eDNA – OH MY! How can advances in\nthese fields help answer your crab and groundfish research questions? \n  \nThe genomic revolution has\nprompted major advances in\ngenetics research that can be\nleveraged to answer myriad\nquestions relating to\nconservation and\nmanagement of natural\nresources. In this talk we will\nprovide an overview of some\nof these advances and discuss\nthe ways they may be applied\nto address topics related to\ngroundfish management and\nthe AFSC mission. We hope to\nprovide a roadmap that will\ngive non-geneticists guidance\non when genomics\napproaches might be useful to\npursue and how to integrate\nthese methods into their\nresearch programs. \n
