SUMMARY:Talk: Haida Traditional Knowledge in Herring Management
DESCRIPTION:Washington Sea Grant social scientist\, Melissa Poe\, will team up with Russ Jones\, senior manager of the Haida Ocean Technical Team to present a public lecture at the on Haida traditional knowledge and sustainability issues of Pacific herring. The talk is hosted by the Sitka Sound Science Center. Melissa is a member of the Ocean Modeling Forum’s herring working group\, and will be in Sitka\, AK working with an interdisciplinary group of scientists and indigenous experts on integrating traditional knowledge with scientific models to manage Pacific herring systems. \n
