DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nBellingham SeaFeast showcases and celebrates our rich maritime heritage\, thriving working waterfront\, commercial fishing and seafood industries\, and the culinary bounty of our corner of the Pacific Northwest. \n\n\n\nThe inaugural Bellingham SeaFeast begins with a special first-time event\, sponsored by Washington Sea Grant: \nFisherPoets-in-Bellingham  \nFriday\, Sept. 30\, 1pm – 9pm \nStroll through downtown Bellingham and listen to old salts and other local fishers read poems\, stories and sing sea shanties and songs in the 1st Annual FisherPoets-in-Bellingham. In this take-off on the renowned FisherPoets Gathering in Astoria\, Oregon\, FisherPoets-in-Bellingham promises to produce smiles and laughter as fishers share their tales over local ales (brewed right in the setting). A popular local dance band will follow into the night. \nSponsored by Washington Sea Grant. \nPlus\, there will be a ton of experiential activities\, fresh seafood (and other fare)\, while experiencing Nature’s gift of Bellingham-by-the-Bay. \nDates and Venues: \n\nFriday\, Sept. 30 afternoon & evening – Downtown Bellingham\nSaturday\, Oct. 1 all day & evening – Zuanich Park in Squalicum Harbor on Bellingham Bay\n\nFor more information download the SeaFeast Flyer. \n

SUMMARY:Kids' Day at OysterFest
DESCRIPTION:\nKids’ Day is a special OysterFest preview which features an array of hands-on activities\, including touch tanks\, designed to help kids explore and explain the natural resource wonders of Mason County. Kids’ Day activities and exhibits are designed to help kids learn about our local waters\, what lives in them\, how to keep them clean and how to be safe in and around the water. \nThis event is co-hosted by Washington Sea Grant and Shelton Skookum Rotary Club in partnership with many local and state agencies. Nearly 100 members of the local community volunteer to present Kids’ Day.  Over the past two decades\, more than 11\,000 local fourth grade students have participated. \n

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome the 2016 Marc Hershman Marine Policy Fellows\, 2017 Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellow\, and 2016 SG/NOAA Fisheries Fellow. \nThis orientation day serves to introduce those of you who are not familiar with the national and state Sea Grant program supporting your fellowship\, meet the WSG staff with whom you will be working during your fellowship\, and to ask questions about logistics such as payroll and travel policies.  In addition\, we’ll collect any paperwork some of you might need for your fellowship and take an official photo for our files and publications. \nTypically we hold an administrative session in the morning followed by lunch. \n
