DESCRIPTION:Join the Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee (MRC) and WA Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) on Friday\, June 9 at Dosewallips State Park in Brinnon for a day on the beach to learn about harvesting oysters and several species of clams. Bring the family! \nWDFW staff will share information about harvesting and shucking oysters\, different types of clams\, where to find these delicious foods\, how to harvest safely and sustainably\, how to prepare & cook your harvest\, and basic rules and regulations that assure delicious shellfish this summer and into the future. Then we’ll go out on the beach and you can dig for your dinner with guidance from the experts. \nThis public event is free. A $10 donation per family will help support future marine education programs. Register here! \n \n

DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExplore your world and learn more about how NOAA – the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – works to understand and predict changes in Earth’s environment to help protect people and property and to conserve and manage coastal and marine resources. Join us at the Western Regional Center in Seattle\, Washington for a series of free activities\, including engaging science presentations and panels\, interactive exhibits and tours. This event is perfect for the whole family.\n\nNOAA staff and scientists will provide guided tours of the Alaska Fisheries Science Center Marine Mammal Bone Laboratory\, the Alaska Fisheries Science Center Net Loft\, the Dive Center that prepares and equips NOAA divers\, the National Weather Service Forecast Office\, and the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory’s engineering shop where they build new technology to collect new data from our oceans.\n\nThe open house will run from noon to 6:30 p.m. at NOAA’s Western Regional Center in north Seattle\, on the shores of Lake Washington. It is free and open to the public. Adults must bring valid photo identification.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
