SUMMARY:8th Annual River and Ocean Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:Quinault River en route to Enchanted Valley via the East Fork Quinault River Trail\, Photo credit: Alison Lorenz \nThe 8th Annual River and Ocean Film Festival is back on! \nThe River & Ocean Film Festival is returning on April 12\, 2025 to celebrate the freshwater and marine environments of the west side of the Olympic Peninsula — and the people who love them. The event was postponed last October due to power outages in the area yet this year’s organizers are excited to revive the annual coastal tradition in Forks after hosting the event online in 2020\, bringing excitement and awareness of coastal communities and ecosystems to the “West End.” \nThe festival will feature seven films from local filmmakers and cover topics ranging from the restoration of the Quillayute River\, to the preservation of the peninsula’s endemic Quinault blueback salmon\, to a journey from Mt. Olympus down the Hoh River. The festival will also feature opportunities to interact with select filmmakers at the event.  \nThe 8th Annual River & Ocean Film Festival is free and family friendly. It will take place at the Rainforest Arts Center located on the corner of Forks Avenue and Division Street. Doors open at 6 p.m. and films start at 7:30 p.m. Event details and film lineup are available online. \nThis year’s event is made possible by the North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee\, and coordinated by Washington Sea Grant in conjunction with the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary\, the Clallam County Marine Resources Committee\, and the Surfrider Foundation. \nFor updates and details visit the event website at Washington Sea Grant. \nCONTACTS:\nIan Miller\, 360.417.6460 or immiller@uw.edu\n \n
