If you are still interested in attending\, contact Bridget Trosin: bemmett@uw.edu. \nScholarships to attend may also be available. \nWestport — The Washington Fishermen’s Convention aims to unify and celebrate our state’s fishing industry\, with something to offer everyone in the community. The Convention is a learning and networking opportunity for both new and experienced fishermen.  \nIt starts with a two-day\, hands-on\, U.S. Coast Guard-approved Drill Instructor and Fishermen’s First Aid at Sea training (participants will earn a certificate). Then\, a two-day conference filled with networking opportunities and educational sessions as well as community meals. Participants must register for the Drill Instructor/First Aid at Sea training and the Conference separately.  \nLocation:\nWestport\, WA \nWorking agenda:\nDrill Instructor and Fishermen First Aid and Safety Training: Thursday\, December 4 – Friday\, December 5\nFee: $75 for commercial fishermen. Non-commercial fishermen can attend for $150. \nTraining venue: McCausland Hall\n2200 Nyhus St N\nWestport\, WA \nConference: Saturday\, December 6 – Sunday\, December 7 \nMulti-track educational and networking conference and community meals for both new and experienced fishermen.  \nSelect topics include: \n\nIntro to Washington fisheries\nDay in the life of a commercial fisherman\nFinance and insurance\nHands-on knot tying \nMitigating conflict\nCrew contracts\nMaking your voice heard with decision-makers\nRegulations and licensing\n\nFULL AGENDA. \nFee: $100   \nAdditional Conference details\nConference venue: \nThe Siren\n421 Neddie Rose Dr\nWestport\, WA \nHotels with conference room rates:\nSaltwater Inn (located next to conference venue)\nDiscount code: Westport10 \nLOGE Westport\nBook with discount link. \nRegistration will also include options to add on an extra meal ticket for a friend or family member to attend dinner on Saturday ($30) and to sponsor a young fisherman to attend the conference ($100).
