SUMMARY:Digital Cocktails & Fishtales - Microplastics
DESCRIPTION:Cocktails & Fishtales is Harbor WildWatch’s science-social series. Held monthly\, these programs feature a scientist\, researcher\, or environmental artist on an ecological topic. \nJulie Masura\, professor at University of Washington Tacoma\, will present on her research on microplastics. Microplastics are defined as small pieces of plastic (less than 5mm) that occur in our environment as a result of plastic pollution. Julie’s field work with undergraduates at UW-T focuses on determining the concentrations of microplastics in the waters of the Pacific Northwest. She involves several students in her research work as well as partners with many environmental education groups throughout the region. \nLearn more here! \n
