SUMMARY:Talk: European green crab - Fidalgo Shoreline Academy
DESCRIPTION:Crab Team Program Coordinator Emily Grason will be speaking about the ongoing efforts to monitor and combat invasion of Washington’s Salish Sea by European green crab. This globally-damaging species has been on the outer coast of Washington since 1998\, but was only recently detected in small numbers at a few sites in inland Washington waters. Given the small numbers and low impacts observed in Washington State to date\, you might wonder why there is still concern. This talk will address what we know so far\, and how local establishment of European green crab could compare to other regional and global populations. \nThe presentation will be given as a part of Fidalgo Shoreline Academy\, a day-long\, public educational event of seminars on topics related to biodiversity and the health of Skagit County’s natural resources. Hosted by Friends of Skagit Beaches. Tickets and more information available on the Fidalgo Shoreline Academy event website. \nReturn to Crab Team website \n
