SUMMARY:OCNMS/Feiro Speaker Series: Ian Miller on Sea Level Rise: Around the World and Here at Home
DESCRIPTION: \nOn January 11\, 2022\, Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary and Feiro Marine Life Center will kick off their 2022 co-sponsored Speaker Series with Dr. Ian Miller on Sea Level Rise: Around the World and Here at Home. Sea level rise is an impact of climate change of special concern to coastal communities around the world\, including here in Washington state. Dr. Ian Miller will talk through the current state of the science as it relates to both observed and projected (i.e. future) sea level globally\, and right here in our home waters. \nDr. Ian Miller is Washington Sea Grant’s coastal hazard specialist\, working out of Peninsula College in Port Angeles\, WA. Ian works with coastal communities and public agencies on the Olympic Peninsula to strengthen their ability to plan for and manage coastal hazards\, including tsunamis\, chronic erosion\, coastal flooding\, and other hazards associated with climate change. \nIan led the development of Washington State’s most recent sea level rise assessment\, and has also partnered in the development of comprehensive climate change vulnerability assessments for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe\, and community on the North Olympic Peninsula. He is an author on 16 publications focused on the Elwha dam removal. \nRegistration link is https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/3352353098137871119 \n
