Speaker Bios

Lalena Amiotte, Washington Department of Natural Resources

Lalena Amiotte is the Aquatic Lands Planning and Stewardship Unit Manager for WA DNR. She facilitates habitat stewardship review for users of State-owned aquatic lands and develops policy for ESA listed species issues on State-owned aquatic lands.

Cedar Bouta, Washington Department of Ecology

Cedar Bouta is with Ecology’s SEA Program where she specializes in communications and aquaculture policy that supports thriving marine ecosystems and coastal communities. In July, she will launch an update of the state’s 30-year old net pen management guidelines – which you’ll hear more about later today.

Matt Curtis, Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife

Matt Curtis is a habitat biologist for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife covering parts of Pierce County. His work includes protecting and conserving fish life and fish habitats in marine and freshwaters of the state. Born and raised in the Midwest, he has lived in a total of ten states, and has been enjoying calling Washington home for the past 2 years.

Steve Goins, City of Shelton

Steve Goins has a background in architecture and construction. Previously owned and operated a small design firm in Southern California for eight years. Earned a degree in Environmental Sciences, and has worked as a planner in both the private and public sector for the past 19 years. Prior to coming to Shelton was the long-range planning manager for Mason County. Currently the Community and Economic Development Director for the City of Shelton; also was the Public Works Director for Shelton for four years.

Teri King, Washington Sea Grant

A highly respected, active presence in Puget Sound marine outreach, Teri engages stakeholders in a variety of issues including shellfish safety and aquaculture and harmful algal blooms (HABs) monitoring. Her most infamous topic of interest is the operation and maintenance of on-site sewage systems. She is the program coordinator for SoundToxins, a diverse partnership of aquaculture businesses, environmental learning centers, Native tribes and Puget Sound volunteers working together to minimize the human health impacts of toxic shellfish through research, early detection and monitoring.

Perry Lund, Washington Department of Ecology

Perry Lund has been with the Department of Ecology’s Shorelands Program since 1990. He has been the lead on shellfish aquaculture issues ever since the Legislature through Ecology into the mix in 2007 with House Bill 2220, directing them to develop shellfish guidelines with the help of the Shellfish Aquaculture Regulatory Committee.

Betty Renkor, Washington Department of Ecology

Betty Renkor is a Senior Shorelines Planner with the Washington Department of Ecology. She works on policy issues and guidance for Shoreline Master Program updates and implementation as well as training. She also helps to coordinate the Shoreline and Coastal Planners Group.

Pamela Sanguinetti, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Pamela Sanguinetti is a biologist and project manager with the Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Her duties include managing the shellfish aquaculture program for the District, which includes shellfish activities in Puget Sound, Willapa Bay and Grays Harbor.
