Crabber Towboat Lanes Data Loading Instructions from this flash drive (thumbdrive): If you have a previous version of Towlanes on your plotter, please delete the lines before you load this new edition to avoid confusion between the old lines and the new ones. Significant changes were made off Yaquina Bay, Pt. Arena and Pt. Reyes. Minor corrections were made elsewhere as needed. P-Sea WindPlot II© Data Loading Instructions (These instructions are written for P-Sea WindPlot II version 7.25.10. Other versions may have a slightly different procedure.) 1. Open the P-Sea WindPlot program. The WindPlot file is a "Marks" file, with the towboat lanes being linked marks. 2. Back up your existing plotter data to the hard drive or an external flash drive (recommended). 2.1. If you have existing towlanes on your WindPlot plotter, you should delete the following marks before you add the new towlane data This is because you can delete duplicate marks, but since the updated marks around Yaquina Bay, Pt. Arena and off Pt. Reyes are new, deleting duplicates will not remove all the existing towlanes. Please delete points 5-1, 5-2... up to and including 5-12. Off Pt Arena delete points 10-5 and 10-6. Off Pt. Reyes delete points 11-1 and 11-2. These points will be replaced with new points that reflect the Crabber-Towlane changes adopted in 2019. 3. Insert the Crabber Towlane flash drive into a USB port on the computer. If a new window opens on top of P-Sea WindPlot, note the letter designating the drive and then close the new window--for example it might be "E", "F" "G" or some other letter. You will load the data through the P-Sea WindPlot program. 4. Go to the upper left corner and click on the DATA menu, then select Marks from the pull down menu. IMPORTANT--you want to pull down the DATA menu at the top left, not the Marks menu that is next to it to the right. DATA>Marks will open a new window that will give you the opportunity to get data or save data. Select the thumbdrive from the pull down Drive menu. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT--check the box to ADD TO your marks, OTHERWISE, THE TOWLANE DATA WILL REPLACE ALL YOUR MARKS. YOU MUST ADD TO your marks to see your fishing info and the towlanes. It will create duplicate marks if you have loaded an earlier version of Crabber Towlane data, but you can "Search for duplicates" which will remove all duplicate marks. After you select ADD TO and the drive letter, select the button that says "GET". The window will show you getting data from the thumbdrive and adding it to RAM. You can confirm the addtion of Crabber Towlane marks by going to an area nearshore and look for the towlanes, which are marks that are linked together. In P-Sea WindPlot, not of the colors match the standards used in other programs. In PSea WindPlot, the year-round lanes are dark blue, the Summer lanes are bright blue and the Advisory lanes are red. 5. One the Data>Marks menu, save from RAM to C: to copy the data to you computer. You can now remove the thumbdrive.
