I spent a week in the other Washington (DC) at the annual American Geophysical Union (AGU) conference. Highlights for me included hearing more about possible causes of the tsunami from the September 28, 2018 M7.5 Sulawesi earthquake, which had a strike-slip motion that wouldn’t normally be expected to cause a tsunami. I also enjoyed reconnecting with people with similar research interests, and presenting my poster on worsening tsunami hazards in the Salish Sea with sea level rise. I highlighted some evidence from past tsunamis, and estimates of current and future inundation from a large Cascadia earthquake with sea level rise.
