Salish Sea-wide Molt Blitz!

June 20

Molt Search Logo

Washington Sea Grant and Washington State University Extension have teamed up to launch a new volunteer-based early detection program to complement the existing Crab Team monitoring network.

Already trained? Stop by your local shoreline on June 20th to complete a Molt Search independently, contributing to Washington’s largest single-day dataset on molt distribution across the Salish Sea.

Need to get trained or want to participate with others? Shorelines across the region will be activated by local partners on June 20th (or nearby dates). Stop by one near you (see event map linked below) to get trained or mingle with other Molt Searchers. Bring a friend!

Find an event near you on the Molt Search Event Map (wsg.washington.edu/moltsearch)

Crab Team staff will be on-site 6/20 at the following locations to answer all your green crab questions & walk you through Molt Search protocols:

  • Bracketts Landing & Marina Beach Parks, Edmonds: 9-11am
  • Salt Water Beach, Des Moines: 9-11am (Guided Molt Searches at 9:30 & 10:30)
  • Harper Park, Southworth: 10am
