Molt Search on-beach Practice (Island County)
June 25 @ 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm
Washington Sea Grant and Washington State University Extension have teamed up to launch a new volunteer-based early detection program to complement the existing Crab Team monitoring network. This event includes an hour and a half long workshop where you will learn how to identify crab molts, where and how to conduct a timed Molt Search survey, how report your findings using the MyCoast mobile app, and optionally how to collect additional data on Dungeness crab molts.
This free on-beach practice of the Molt Search protocols is hosted by program partner Sound Water Stewards and will take place at Keystone Spit at Fort Casey Beach in Coupeville, WA.
You’re encouraged to attend a virtual training before attending like the one offered 6/18 from 6-7:30pm (Zoom registration linked here), but all are welcome.
