Crab Team New Monitor Training: in-person session at Willapa Bay
March 23, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This event is the in-person session in Crab Team’s New Monitors series of 4 required sessions. This session is one of the several location/date options offered for the required in-person training session: 3/23 in Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. Time is subject to change.
Crab Team’s annual training series for new monitors is in 4 parts: 3 live, virtual sessions (Zoom) + 1 in-person session.
This year we are recruiting a limited number of new monitors to add to existing teams in their network of sites monitoring for the invasive European green crab.
Sign me up! If you are interested in getting involved, please fill out our 2023 New Monitor Interest Form. If a site near you has availability this season, we’ll be in touch with an invitation to join us for this year’s training series.
We encourage interested community members to read the Get Involved section of our website to find out what our monitors do as Crab Team’s “Boots in the Mud” – no prior experience necessary.
Event Logistics: RSVP’ed attendees will receive event specific details via email.
Contact the Crab Team at crabteam@uw.edu if you have any questions.
Additional required trainings for New Monitors take place Monday 3/13 (Orientation for Coastal Sites) on Zoom; Wednesday 3/15 (Orientation for Inland Sites) on Zoom; Thursday 3/16 (Protocols I) on Zoom; Friday 3/17 (Protocols II) on Zoom; and the trainees choice of in-person sessions held 3/21 (Kitsap), 3/23 (Pacific), 3/24 (Grays Harbor), 3/27 (Skagit), and 3/28 (Jefferson).
