CANCELED: Crab Team New Volunteer Training – Padilla Bay
March 19, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pmFree
**Update: It is with an abundance of caution that the Washington Sea Grant Director has made the decision to cancel this training workshop. We do not want to risk anyone’s health and wellness given the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in our state. As members of our broader Washington Sea Grant and UW community, current information regarding the University’s communications and protocols can be found at uw.edu/coronavirus. It is our goal to reschedule the workshop when we are able. Please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Interested in becoming a Crab Team volunteer monitor to help protect pocket estuaries in Washington’s Salish Sea? This full-day training workshop will fully equip you to join Crab Team’s “Boots in the Mud” – no prior experience necessary. The workshop will include:
- An introduction to pocket estuaries and the invasion threat from European green crab;
- Learning and practicing the monitoring protocols;
- Identification of pocket estuary animals;
More information: This year, Crab Team is recruiting a limited number of new volunteers to add to existing sites/teams, so we cannot guarantee that all new participants will be matched with a team. If you would like more information on where opportunities are available, please email email@example.com. In addition, we welcome attendees who are just interested in finding out what community science is all about, you are under no obligation to join a team. We encourage you to contact us or read the Get Involved section of our website to find out what our volunteers do.
Logistics: Workshop will take place in the Breazeale Interpretive Center large room. We will have light refreshments and a short break for lunch, but we recommend bringing a bagged lunch. Depending on weather, part of the training workshop might be conducted outside on the lawn. Please come ready to spend up to an hour outside, including warm clothing.
To register: Complete the RSVP form below and you will receive a reminder email one week prior to the event.
