Science Cafe (Olympia)

June 14, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Green crabCurious what all the fuss about European green crabs is about, and whether you should be concerned?

Join us at Orca Books in Olympia for a presentation and discussion of the history of the global spread of European green crabs, as well as a critical evaluation of the risk they pose to Washington’s inland shorelines.

Learn about the work that is being done by more than 90 Crab Team volunteers working all around Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and what you can do to help protect our pocket estuaries.

More about the Science Cafe:

Science Café of Olympia meets each month on the second Tuesday. It provides an informal atmosphere where people with and without scientific background can meet to deepen their understanding of interesting topics in science and technology. After a presentation by an expert in the field, the meetings are opened for discussion. Science Cafés are found nationwide and are loosely affiliated with the U.K.-based Cafe Scientifique, an international organization promoting public engagement with science.
