Skagit and Samish Flats Birding Field Trip
February 23, 2020 @ 6:30 am - 4:30 pm
Join Seattle Audubon for a birding excursion to the Skagit and Samish flats, which offer some of the best winter raptor and waterfowl viewing in the state. Expect to see Red-tailed and Rough-legged Hawks, Northern Harriers, Trumpeter Swans, Snow Geese, Bald Eagles. We’ll look for Short-eared Owls, Tundra Swans, wintering shorebirds, and with luck we’ll find a falcon or two. Hunting season is over in February, so it’s a great time to look for ducks, including concentrations of Eurasian Wigeon. Bring lunch, snacks, and fluids. Scopes useful. Drivers need a Discover Pass. Return by early evening. Carpool cost $50 shared equally by riders.
