Basic Watch Standing
Washington Sea Grant, the Northwest Maritime Center, and WSU Jefferson County Extension cosponsor a workshop on Basic Watch Standing. This workshop is for anyone who is interested in working on commercial fishing vessels or has some experience and would like to learn more. Washington Sea Grant Program and Jefferson County Extension and are co-sponsoring a one day Coast Guard Approved Sea Safety and Survival Course (Drill Instructor) for commercial fishermen. The workshop combines lecture and hands on experience with Safety & Survival Equipment required for fishing vessels. Participants will learn about emergency procedures and will be trained to develop appropriate emergency drills for their own vessels. The EBM Tools Network and OpenChannels.org will host the webinar, "Community-Based Sea Level Rise Projections," to be presented by Ian Miller of Washington Sea Grant. WSG has partnered with the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe and Adaptation International to develop local sea-level rise projections and sea-level scenario maps for the Jamestown S'Klallam community.
