Puget Soundkeeper needs your help each week as we paddle through Lake Union and remove trash from the water while keeping an eye out for other pollution violations. Volunteers will be in double kayaks outfitted with trash bags, grabbers, and nets for scooping debris from the water. Come explore the Eastside at Lake Washington's largest freshwater wetland with Seattle Audubon! We'll descend a short but steep hillside into the slough, and then walk around the Bellefields Loop Trail. Volunteer patrols form a central part of Puget Soundkeeper’s effort to monitor pollution and prevent debris from reaching our waterways. While on patrol, we keep an eye out for abnormal discharges, oil slicks, and other emergent pollution. We also check for the application of best management practices by shoreline businesses.
