Port Townsend: Introduction to Invasive Green Crabs

Unfortunately, they are also highly threatened by shoreline development, pollution, and now, a potential invader. European green crabs (Carcinus maenas), often listed as one of the world's worst invasive species, are now poised to enter Washington’s inland waters along the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound. Molt Search Volunteer Training (Jefferson County)
Washington Sea Grant and Washington State University Extension have teamed up to launch a new volunteer-based early detection program to complement the existing Crab Team monitoring network. This event includes a 2-hour workshop where you will learn how to identify crab molts, where and how to conduct a 20-minute Molt Search survey, how report your findings using the MyCoast mobile app, and optionally how to collect additional data on Dungeness crab molts.
