The Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve provides a free climate change workshop for climate science educators, curriculum specialists, and professional development providers. The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) explicitly includes the topic of global climate change in grade bands 6–8 and 9–12. The inclusion of this important Earth system science topic and underlying concepts has far-reaching implications for curriculum and instruction design and implementation, and teacher professional learning. This two-day workshop will prepare educators with a deeper conceptual understanding of the science, and the pedagogical knowledge and skills to teach NGSS-aligned climate science to middle and high school students.
