Storming the Sound with Salmon

May 11, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 1:30 pm

The Salmon Release Celebration is the culmination of the annual Storming the Sound with Salmon program, a partnership between the City of Federal Way and Federal Way Public Schools to promote science and environmental education, particularly storm water education.

Over the school year, students in Twenty-six Federal Way Schools have been raising salmon while at the same time learning about the impacts of surface water pollution and what they can do to help prevent it. Not only will the students get to release their salmon at the event, they spend the entire school day at the West Hylebos Wetlands Park doing hands-on outdoor learning.

Parents and City and School District staff are encouraged to attend this exciting community event.  Please note parking is very limited, alternative parking is available on a residential street across from the park or a couple blocks east at the Park & Ride.

The public is welcome to come down and check out the event. If you have any questions about the event, contact Hollie Shilley at 253-835-2752 or hollie.shilley@cityoffederalway.com
