Opening Day Boat Parade
Opening Day marks the start of the Seattle boating season. The Seattle Yacht Club sponsors a boat parade through the Montlake Cut. This year's theme is 'A Great Escape'. The parade can be viewed from the shoreline at Portage Bay and Montlake Cut or from vessels moored in the designated anchorage areas. For more information visit the Seattle Yacht Club website. The event will be preceded by the University of Washington's 30th Annual Windermere Cup Crew Regatta.

Washington Sea Grant and the Port of Bellingham are co-sponsoring a U.S. Coast Guard-approved First Aid at Sea Workshop. Topics covered include patient assessment, CPR, hypothermia, immobilization, near drowning, shock and trauma, burns, fractures, and choking. Fee: $100 ($50 for active commercial fishermen). State of the Oyster Study volunteers invite you to join them to look at bacterial contamination on privately owned beaches in Hood Canal and throughout Puget Sound. Samples will be tested for fecal coliform ($25 per test) and/or Vibrio parahaemolyticus ($30 per test). Results will be delivered by phone 10 days after test dates.
