Washington Sea Grant 2021 Request for Proposals
Funding cycle: February 1, 2022 – January 31, 2024
Funding cycle: February 1, 2022 – January 31, 2024
The full proposal application period for the 2021 RFP is CLOSED.
Washington Sea Grant (WSG) requests proposals for one- to two-year research projects from investigators at academic and research institutions throughout the state of Washington. Funded projects will contribute to WSG and state priority information needs by advancing knowledge in one of four focus areas: healthy coastal ecosystems, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, resilient communities and economies, and ocean literacy and workforce development.*
About $2 million will be awarded during the two-year funding cycle through a competitive review process.
Proposals must follow the guidelines detailed in the 2021 Request for Proposals and be submitted through eSeaGrant, WSG’s online proposal submission system.
To access guidelines, visit the Washington Sea Grant’s Request for Proposals PDF.
*While recent WSG RFPs have solicited maritime workforce development projects, WSG does not intend to fund non-research based education or workforce development projects through this RFP. If you are interested in funding for a non-research project, please contact the WSG director to discuss opportunities for Program Development funds.
Two RFP info sessions took place in mid-January to brief potential investigators on the RFP process and provide an opportunity to ask questions. Content at each of the information sessions was the same. Please see below for the presentation recordings.

The WSG Request for Proposals Outreach Workshop was held on February 2, 2021. The workshop included 1) a presentation on WSG and the RFP; 2) WSG staff introductions; and 3) networking breakout sessions. This recording only contains part 2 of the workshop. The information presented during part 1 of the workshop was also presented during two previous information sessions, available as recordings above.
