The newest issue of our biannual magazine is here!
August 21, 2025
Washington Sea Grant (WSG) is excited to share about our research, outreach and education programs through Sea Star, our biannual magazine.
The summer 2025 issue is, unofficially, the “salmon issue,” with five feature stories highlighting the rich variety of WSG’s work through the study, stewardship and harvest of one of Washington state’s most important and iconic fishes. Topics include the WSG-funded Salmon and Climate Initiative, an effort to better coordinate salmon recovery across sectors and jurisdictions; a new tool enabling managers to prioritize culvert removals based on the predicted benefit to salmon; the launch of a new edition of the Seafood Direct Marketing Manual, a collaboration between Pacific Coast Sea Grant programs aimed at helping fishermen sell directly to customers; a profile of Roger Bain, fisherman of the Makah Tribe; and a recap of WSG’s new Skills and Drills training for aspiring fishermen.
