Washington’s Clean Boating Program Receives Funding

Two recently awarded grants from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to the Washington Parks Department will bolster local Clean Vessel Act services, including WSG’s Pumpout Washington program.

September 8-10

Wooden Boat Festival 

The most education-packed and beautifully located wooden boat festival in the world, featuring more than 300 vessels and hundreds of presentations. Washington Sea Grant will have a boater outreach booth with materials on small spill prevention and pumpout education.

 

September 16-23

Whatcom Water Week

A week-long, Washington Sea Grant-sponsored festival that celebrates our local water resources. Whatcom Water Week includes dozens of events including the Baker to Bay Symposium, Streams of Thought Film Festival and Run with the Chums 5k fun run/walk.

 

September 22-23

Bellingham SeaFeast

Washington Sea Grant-sponsored Bellingham SeaFeast will show off the catch of local fishing boats and the many different dishes it can create. Vendors will demonstrate how to fillet a fish, crack crabs and shuck oysters, and visitors can participate in contests from salmon grilling to a commercial survival suit race.

 

2017 Request for Proposals

WSG is now reviewing proposals for one- to two-year projects from investigators at academic, research and education institutions throughout the state of Washington. Decisions will be announced in late September, 2017. 

Program Development

WSG sets aside a portion of its federal budget for small grants that allow timely responses to new or changing needs and provide the capacity to plan and begin implementation in emerging program areas.
