Looking Back on 50 Years: 1972 Dr. Donaldson with a Super Trout

July 16, 2021

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Washington Sea Grant, we’re digging through our photo archive to share moments from our program’s history. Here is a photo from 1972 of Dr. Lauren “Doc” Donaldson, former director of what is now known as the UW School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences, holding a super trout! Fish and fisheries research is a major focus of many WSG funded projects. WSG projects range from aiding salmon recovery and studying fish species trends to improving management of the nation’s largest fisheries. Research is the cornerstone of WSG’s mission to help people better understand and address the challenges facing our ocean and coasts.
